Making a Chain

To make a chain, you need to guess a series of connected word pairs. Each word links perfectly to the next creating a seamless chain.

Take a look at this example chain:

Chain > Reaction > Time > Out > Cry > Baby

The following word pairs were made:

Chain Reaction - A sequence of cascading sequential events or a popular gameshow!

Reaction Time - The speed of response to a stimulus, or how quickly you can dodge something

Time Out - A stoppage in play or the naughty corner for children

Out Cry - A strong public disapproval or a collective shout

Cry Baby - Someone who whinges and is easily provoked

The aim is to find the connecting words that make up the pairs in the chain. You can select any line to answer from, starting from the top down, bottom up or right in the middle!

Once you think you know the answer, type it in and press Guess. If your answer is wrong, the line will clear so you can guess again

Hints

There are 4 hints in the game. They are:

Next Letter (All Modes) - Shows the next available letter in the selected line

Show a Clue (All Modes) - Shows a written clue for the word in the selected line

Solve the Word (Main game only) - This solves the entire word on the selected line

Show Word Length (Chain Tournament only) - This shows how long the word is on the selected line

Hints can really help you if you get stuck. You can earn them as rewards across the game as well as get more in the Shop. If you run out of Hints, you can use them within the game by spending coins.

Main Game

The Main game is a mixture of 4, 5 and 6 word Chains. Every chain you solve in the Main game makes progress towards your next background. See how far you can progress!

Chain Tournament

Chain Tournament differs from the Main game as you place a wager on being correct in your guess.

At the start of each tournament, you will be given a starting amount of Bucks. You stake these Bucks on guessing correct word pairs in a chain. The aim is to collect as many Bucks as possible before the tournament is over in order to finish high in your League. Finishing high means more rewards!

If you run out of Bucks in a day, there are ways to keep playing. If you’re feeling certain of a word pair, you can use the Max stake option to grant higher wager amounts for a limited time period.

Your Bucks will only last for the duration of the tournament. You will start with the default balance when the next tournament begins.

Daily Chain

Daily Chain is another way of playing, but a little harder. You are only given the first and last word, without any starting letters appearing in the chain. Complete daily chains to earn progress towards badges and rewards.

Bonus Game

The Bonus game appears after a certain amount of levels. Pick an envelope to reveal the rewards inside it!

Leaderboards

Leaderboards track chain links that you make across all modes. A chain link is rewarded for each word pair that you find. You earn rewards for different chain link milestones throughout the season.

Badges

Badges will keep track of your progress in the game for a season. You can check previous seasons badges there as well. The badges are:

Flawless Chains - Chains completed with no mistakes

Chains Solved - The amount of completed chains you’ve done in a season

Coins Earned - Your total coin earnings from all areas in the season

Bucks Staked - The amount of Bucks you’ve wagered in Chain Tournament this season

Bucks Won - The amount of Bucks you’ve won in Chain Tournament this season

Daily Chains - Your total number of completed Daily Chains in the season

Season Champion - Achieve the highest level of all 6 Badges in a season

Shop

You can find items you’ll need to help you solve chains as well as coins!

Coins

Coins are the main currency of Chain Reaction and are used to get Hints and to buy more Bucks in Chain Tournament.

Multiplier Game

At the end of each round you’ll be offered a chance to increase your coins by watching an advert.

Backgrounds

Backgrounds will change after a set number of levels. In order to make background progress and see all the lovely locations, you’ll need to play the Main game.

Player Profile

You can change your name and profile image here, as well as see some of your stats. Customise how you look to other players in Leagues and Leaderboards!

FAQ

I’m stuck and I can’t solve the level!

You can use hints if you have them and have enough coins. You can get more by visiting the shop. Within the Shop there’s also a way of receiving coins by watching a short video. Alternatively, if you’re stuck in one place, you can play other modes to earn coins to help you!

How do I change my name?

You can change your name by visiting Player Profile in the top left of your screen.

Can I spend Chain Tournament Bucks on anything else?

No, Chain Tournament Bucks are only used within Chain Tournament. 

What happened to my Bucks?

Your Bucks don’t continue into the next tournament. At the start of a new tournament, you get a new float of Bucks.

I paid to remove ads for 30 days, will this auto-renew?

No, the in-app purchase of ‘30 days No Ads’ does not auto-renew. You can of course buy it again, to remain ad free!
