New to Lingo

Hot Streaks

Put your skills to the test with the all-new Hot Streak.

Successfully guess 5 Lingos in a row to ignite a Hot Streak. Hot Streaks give double points, as well as progress towards a rewards chest!

New Letters & Letter Collecting

Your collection just got deeper with three brand-new Letter Rarities: Sapphire, Amber, and Jade.

We've also split letter pieces into just Orange & Blue Pieces, giving you more choice over which letters you want to upgrade first when you have enough pieces!

League Improvements

We've made changes to the way Leagues work to make them fairer and more competitive. You'll compete against players who have similar letter rarities to you.

Out with the Old

To streamline the game and make room for new systems, the following legacy items and features have been removed:

  • Bingo (Mini-game, Tokens, Cards, etc)

  • Game Tickets

  • Gems

  • Ink

All of these will be converted into items usable in the latest update. You won't be missing out or out of pocket!

Lingo VIP Club Adjustments

We've tweaked the VIP benefits to match the changes to the game and removal of certain features:

  • No Ads: Remains the same!

  • Double Hot Streak Timer: Your streaks now last twice as long.

  • Instant Letter Upgrading: All letter upgrades are completed instantly.

Lingo Gameplay

The aim of Lingo is to guess the word in as few tries as possible. You are always given the first letter of every word and you have 5 attempts at guessing the correct word. You may get additional guesses by watching video adverts.

If a letter goes green after your guess it means that you have the correct letter in the correct place in the word.

If a letter goes orange after your guess, it means you have the correct letter but in the wrong place in the word.

If a letter remains dark blue it means that letter is not in the word.

You must guess a real word in order for it to be accepted. Submitting a word that is a proper noun, or not in our dictionary, will end the game without you being able to make more guesses. Please send us an email if you think a word should be included!

A timer will start for each guess until you submit a word.

Boosters

Boosters are meant to give you an advantage in the game.

  • Green Booster: Show a correct letter in correct place

  • Orange Booster: Show a correct letter in wrong place

  • Red Booster: Remove 6 letters from keyboard

  • Blue Booster: Freeze the time

Be sure to use them when you need to, to make sure you get the Lingo! Extra boosters can be bought in the Gameplay screen using your coins. They can also be purchased in the Shop.

Daily Word

Daily Word is a game mode that asks you to complete one 5-letter word each day. There are rewards for finding the word!

There are no Boosters in this mode, it's all on you to see if you can work it out!

You can see your latest Daily Word statistics before you enter the game. There's no time limit on Daily Word and you can keep going back into it until you submit your final guess.

If you don't guess the Lingo, your attempt for the day will end after 5 guesses.

Be sure to share your results with your friends after you've had your go!

Letters

Upgraded letters score more points!

There are 12 rarities, each with a number of points associated with it:

  • Wood (default): 1 point

  • Bronze: 2 points

  • Silver: 3 points

  • Gold: 5 points

  • Diamond: 7 points

  • Emerald: 10 points

  • Amethyst: 12 points

  • Marble: 20 points

  • Ruby: 25 points

  • Sapphire: 40 points

  • Amber: 45 points

  • Jade: 60 points

These will count towards your score each time you make a Lingo. So the higher you level up your letters, the higher your scores will be.

Letter Pieces

To upgrade your letters you need to collect letter pieces. Letter pieces are split into Orange Pieces (Vowels) and Blue Pieces (Consonants), so you can choose which letters to upgrade first when you have enough pieces. Orange Pieces upgrade your vowels and Blue Pieces upgrade your consonants.

You can earn letter pieces in chests, as part of League rewards, and in bundles in the Shop and Weekly Offer steps.

Upgrading Letters

Letters take time to upgrade. You can upgrade as many letters as you like at the same time and upgrades will continue in the background as you play Lingo. VIP players don't have to wait at all, as their upgrades are instant.

Once a letter is ready to upgrade you will see a little green arrow appear and the bar will turn green. Just make sure you have enough coins in order to complete the upgrade!

Magic Tickets

Magic Tickets instantly bypass all costs and timers for a letter. Use one on any letter you are upgrading to complete the upgrade straight away. Magic Tickets are valuable rewards, earned by finishing well in Leagues, in Letter Chests, in Shop bundles and through Weekly Offer steps.

Complete the Set

Complete a full set of letters to unlock a Letter Chest and move to the next rarity. To unlock the next rarity tier, you must upgrade ALL letters in your current set.

Leagues

Keep track of your progress with Leagues, competing against others to maximise those Lingo scores!

Leagues run weekly and refresh on Sunday night. Each letter has a score, and these are added together after finding a Lingo to give you your League points. You can keep tabs on your position each week by pressing on the Leagues menu button at any time.

You'll compete against players who have similar letter rarities to you. Leagues are grouped into Divisions with 3 leagues per Division, and your Letter Rarity determines which Division you compete in:

  • Rookie Division: requires all letters to be minimum Wood rarity

  • Fun Division: requires all letters to be minimum Gold rarity

  • Pro Division: requires all letters to be minimum Emerald rarity

  • Crown Division: requires all letters to be minimum Marble rarity

  • Master Division: requires all letters to be minimum Sapphire rarity

To move to a higher Division, you'll need to upgrade your letters to meet the requirements of the next Division. Once you reach a higher Division, you can never be relegated back to a lower one.

There are Promotion Zones, Stay the Same Zones and Relegation Zones. Keep on checking your League position as you go to make sure you get over the line!

Players in the Promotion Zone will move up to the next League, provided they meet the rarity requirements for the next Division. If you finish in the promotion places without meeting the rarity requirements, you will remain in your league. Stay out of the Relegation Zone to avoid moving down!

When the League finishes each week, rewards are given out based on where you finish. The higher you finish in the League the better your rewards will be, and finishing well can earn you Magic Tickets!

In the event of a tie in positions, all players with the same score will receive the same reward.

Chests

There are 3 different chests in the game: the Letter Chest, the Lingo Chest and the Fire Chest.

  • Letter Chest: unlocked when you complete a full set of letters

  • Lingo Chest: earned by correctly solving Lingos

  • Fire Chest: earned by correctly solving Lingos while you are on a Hot Streak

VIP Club

If you love playing Lingo but don't like interruptions, and if you want to get more from your Hot Streaks and upgrade your letters in an instant, then we think that the Lingo VIP Club is what you've been waiting for.

Head to the Lingo Shop now and sign up for the Free Trial. You can cancel at any time, but if you decide that the VIP life is for you, your subscription will begin at the end of the Free Trial and it will renew every month. You can manage your subscription from the Lingo Settings screen and there's no commitment, you can cancel whenever you like.

Coins

You earn coins for every game of Lingo that you play.

You can spend coins on upgrading Letters, purchasing Boosters in-game and customising your profile in My Lingo.

My Lingo

My Lingo is where you can customise your profile and change how your game looks.

You are able to customise the following:

  • Home Screen Background

  • Profile Picture

  • Picture Frame

  • League Listing

Profile Picture, Picture Frame and League Listing will be visible to other players in Leagues!

You will also be able to see the latest available items and bundles by clicking the shopping cart tab. You can spend your coins on upgrading how your game looks!

All the items you have unlocked or purchased with coins will appear here. Be sure to check out new items as they come in, we are constantly adding new ways to express your personality and interests!

We even have animated items such as Home Screen Backgrounds, Profile Pictures and Picture Frames!

Statistics

You can now track how well you're performing with our updated, visually striking and animated Statistics screen. This is available on the Home Screen in the top left via a button.

Certain statistics are displayed on your League Listing profile within Leagues.

Statistics are a great way to see how well you are playing in the game. We track the following:

  • Lingos Guessed In: how many guesses you have taken to solve Lingos

  • Best Streak: your best winning streak in standard Lingo

  • Weekly Accuracy: your accuracy at guessing Lingos this week

  • Daily Word Streak: your best winning streak in Daily Word

  • Overall Accuracy: your accuracy at guessing Lingos in your Lingo lifetime

  • Lifetime Lingos Found: the total number of Lingos you've solved by game type

  • Top 10 Finishes: how many times you've finished in the Top Ten of a League

  • Form Tracker: your win/loss record for your last 10 games

  • Letter Level: your highest Letter Tile upgrade

All stats are visible in both League and Statistics. You can see another player's stats by clicking on their name in Leagues. A drop down menu will appear to show their details.

You can scroll up and down your statistics by swiping.

FAQs

Where can I spend my Coins?

You can spend your Coins on upgrading your Letters, buying Boosters and customising your profile in My Lingo. You can access the Letters screen by tapping the Letters icon to the right of the HOME icon at the bottom of the screen. Here you can upgrade your letters, which means that they will score more points which will help you get to the top of your League and earn extra rewards!

What are Magic Tickets and what do they do?

Magic Tickets instantly bypass all costs and timers when you upgrade a letter. Use one on a letter you are upgrading and the upgrade is completed straight away, without wasting your Orange and Blue Pieces.

How do I earn Magic Tickets?

Magic Tickets are valuable rewards given away for finishing well in Leagues, as rewards in Letter Chests, in Shop bundles and through Weekly Offer steps. The higher you finish in a League, the better your rewards will be, so keep climbing!

How do I earn letter pieces?

Letter pieces are earned in chests, as part of League rewards, and as part of bundles in the Shop and Weekly Offer steps.

Why haven't I been promoted?

To be promoted you need to finish in the Promotion Zone and meet the rarity requirements for the next Division. If you finish in the promotion places without meeting the rarity requirements, you will remain in your league. Upgrade all of your letters to the minimum rarity the next Division asks for. You can see each Division's requirements in the Leagues section.

Why can't I upgrade my letter?

To upgrade a letter you need enough Orange or Blue Pieces (Orange for vowels, Blue for consonants) and enough coins. When a letter is ready you will see a little green arrow and the bar will turn green. If you have already started upgrading a letter, the upgrade will continue in the background as you play Lingo. VIP players' upgrades are instant, and Magic Tickets bypass all costs and timers.

You must also complete each Letter Chest before you can upgrade a letter beyond the rarity you are aiming for. All letters must be upgraded to the same rarity before they can be upgraded again. For example, if you upgrade your "A", you won't be able to upgrade it again until all of your letters match the rarity of your "A" and you've completed the Letter Chest.

Why did my Hot Streak end?

Hot Streaks are timed in real-world minutes, and the clock keeps ticking even if you close the app. Your Hot Streak ends when the timer runs out. Incorrect guesses won't reset your Hot Streak bonus. To start a new Hot Streak, guess 5 Lingos in a row or watch a rewarded video ad. VIP members get a Double Hot Streak Timer, so their streaks last twice as long.

Why isn't my Fire Chest making progress?

You only make progress towards your Fire Chest by correctly solving Lingos while your Hot Streak is active. If your Hot Streak has ended, you'll need to start a new one by guessing 5 Lingos in a row or watching a rewarded video ad. Hot Streaks run on a timer in real-world minutes, even when the app is closed.

Why doesn't the game accept words like FRIDAY/PLUTO/NILE/JULY?

Proper nouns and offensive words are not included in our dictionary.

I accidentally deleted the game. Do I have to start from the beginning?

We save your game progress so if you reinstall the game you can carry on from where you left off.

How can I remove adverts?

Head to the Lingo Shop and take a look at the Lingo VIP Club. As a member you will receive the following benefits:

  • No forced adverts!

  • Double Hot Streak Timer!

  • Instant Letter Upgrading!

Does the free trial to the Lingo VIP Club commit me to anything?

No, it's totally free and you can cancel at any time before the trial ends.

How do I see my Stats?

You can see your personal stats in your player profile screen, accessible from the button on the home screen.

What do the Stats show?

Your stats will update with each game that you play and reflect your current progress and ability.

How can I change my name?

We do not allow people to change their name yet within the game. It is something we are looking to add in the future.

How can I change my picture, frame, background and other things?

You can change all of these things by heading to the My Lingo button on the Home Screen. You can select from any items you already own. You can purchase more items using your coins from the same menu.
